“Professional yacht surveyor in Preveza, delivering fast, detailed reports for serious buyers”

If you are walking around the marinas of Preveza or Lefkada, it is easy to get drawn in by clean lines, polished decks, and a fresh coat of antifouling. Many yachts present well on the surface.

But a yacht survey is not about what you can see at first glance.

It is about what lies behind the panels, beneath the sole boards, inside the structure, and within the systems that truly determine the condition and value of the vessel.

As a marine surveyor working across the Ionian region, I approach every inspection with a methodical, evidence-based process. This is not guesswork, and it is not a quick walk around the deck. It is a structured inspection developed through years of experience and guided by International Institute of Marine Surveying standards.

The Reality Behind a Proper Survey

A professional survey starts inside the vessel, working methodically from bow to stern. Floorboards are lifted, structural members are inspected, and systems are examined in detail.

This includes:

  • Structural integrity of the hull and internal grid

  • Evidence of previous repairs or groundings

  • Moisture levels within GRP laminates

  • Condition of skin fittings and seacocks

  • Steering systems and stern gear

  • Engine installation and operation under load

  • Electrical systems and safety equipment

Each of these areas tells part of the story. When combined, they give a true picture of the vessel’s condition.

Tools of the Trade

Modern surveying is not just visual.

On a typical inspection, I will be using:

  • Moisture meters to assess laminate condition

  • Thermal or visual inspection techniques where appropriate

  • Drone technology for mast and rigging inspection

  • Electrical testing equipment

  • Camera systems to document all findings clearly

Every tool is used for one purpose — to remove uncertainty and provide clear, factual evidence.

Why This Matters for Buyers

A detailed pre-purchase survey does more than highlight defects.

It gives you leverage.

When findings are clearly documented, they allow buyers to:

  • Negotiate price adjustments

  • Request repairs prior to completion

  • Make informed decisions with confidence

In many cases, the survey will either confirm that the yacht is a good example… or prevent a very expensive mistake.

The Ionian Market Reality

The Greek yacht market is one of the most active in Europe. Preveza, Lefkada, and the surrounding yards see a constant turnover of vessels.

Some are exceptionally well maintained.

Others present well but hide underlying issues such as moisture ingress, ageing systems, or past structural repairs.

Knowing the difference is where a professional survey becomes essential.

More Than a Report

A survey report is not just a document.

It is a technical assessment, a negotiation tool, and ultimately a safeguard for your investment.

My role is to provide a clear, unbiased evaluation of the vessel’s condition, supported by evidence and professional judgement.

No assumptions. No guesswork. Just facts.
