This week, I conducted an insurance condition survey on a CNB Bordeaux 60 located in Preveza, Greece. This yacht stands out from many production-built cruising yachts. As this was an insurance survey, the vessel remained afloat throughout the inspection. Although I could not examine the underwater hull externally, I gained extensive access to the interior structure, machinery spaces, technical compartments, bilges, and accommodation areas.

The vessel presented exceptionally well. Internal structural components, bulkheads, floors, bonding arrangements, and accessible hull surfaces were in good condition. There was no evidence of structural movement, impact damage, or significant water ingress. The yacht had clearly benefited from ongoing maintenance and upgrades over recent years.

Notable Improvements

Notable improvements included modern lithium battery installations, comprehensive navigation electronics, generator systems, air conditioning, and watermaker equipment suitable for extended offshore cruising. These enhancements significantly increase the yacht's functionality and comfort.

Documentation provided during the survey confirmed that the standing rigging had been completely renewed in 2022. This was done using Dyform stainless steel wire and new Blue Wave terminals. Such an investment is always a positive finding on a yacht of this size and capability.

Performance and Comfort

One of the most impressive aspects of the Bordeaux 60 is the balance between performance and comfort. Despite offering luxurious accommodation and substantial tankage, these yachts retain excellent sailing characteristics. They have developed a strong reputation among serious cruising sailors.

Minor Maintenance Items

Only minor routine maintenance items were identified during the inspection. No significant defects affecting insurability were noted. This is reassuring for potential buyers and current owners alike.
