As a professional marine surveyor based in Preveza, Greece, my work is centred around the three main marinas of the Ambracian Gulf: Cleopatra Marina, Aktio Marina, and Ionion Marina. Together they form one of the most active and well-equipped yacht service hubs in the eastern Mediterranean, providing ideal facilities for pre-purchase surveys, insurance inspections, valuations, and sea trials.
Cleopatra Marina – Full-Service Facilities and International Access
Cleopatra Marina is one of the largest and best-organised marinas in Greece. Located directly opposite the town of Preveza and just minutes from Aktion International Airport (PVK), it offers excellent access for international yacht buyers and owners. The marina provides around 100 in-water berths for yachts up to 30 metres, along with a 1,000-boat hard-standing area used for storage, maintenance, and surveys. On site are travel lifts, high-pressure wash bays, engineering workshops, rigging and GRP specialists, and chandlery facilities. This makes it an ideal base for full condition and pre-purchase surveys, particularly for yachts changing ownership.

Aktio Marina – Established Yard and Technical Support
Situated alongside Cleopatra, Aktio Marina forms part of the same sheltered complex at the entrance to the Ambracian Gulf. It is a long-established yard with a reputation for high-quality storage, reliable staff, and comprehensive lift-out facilities. I regularly work within this yard when clients prefer a quieter environment for extended survey work, refit projects, or repair supervision. The proximity to Preveza and the Ionian cruising grounds makes it a convenient and cost-effective choice for survey clients.
Ionion Marina – Practical and Accessible
Across the water near Preveza town lies Ionion Marina, a smaller but efficient facility offering haul-outs, shore storage, and easy access to local service engineers. I often carry out surveys here for both private owners and brokerage sales, where the straightforward layout and direct access to the town make inspections quick and efficient.
Professional Marine Surveying in Line with IIMS Standards
All survey work is undertaken in accordance with the International Institute of Marine Surveying (IIMS) Codes of Practice, ensuring a consistent, independent, and technically accurate assessment. My reports are produced in plain English, delivered within 48 hours, and include detailed findings, recommendations, and valuation where required.
Typical services include:
Pre-Purchase Surveys – full structural and systems evaluation prior to sale
Insurance Surveys – condition assessments for renewal or underwriting
Valuation Reports – for sale, finance, or legal requirements
Sea Trials – performance and systems testing under power and sail

Local Knowledge – A Key Advantage
Having worked extensively within these three marinas, I maintain strong relationships with local engineers, riggers, and service contractors, allowing surveys to be coordinated smoothly and efficiently. This local presence also means lower travel costs and faster scheduling for clients buying or maintaining yachts in the Ionian region.
If you are purchasing, insuring, or refitting a yacht in Preveza, Aktio, or the Ionian Sea, feel free to contact me to discuss your requirements. Reports are prepared to full professional standards, independent, and impartial – giving you the confidence to make informed decisions about your vessel.
